Aston Martin Super Sport Becomes The World’s Most Expensive Car

There is a new occupant at the world’s most expensive car slot. This new king of the automotive world is the super duper sexy and oh so expensive Aston Martin Super Sport. This limited edition sports car has taken this slot after being priced at a mind blowing $9.6 million! So if you do not have that kinda dough then you can just be happy by looking at this beautiful piece of machinery.

Considering the price range, the manufacturers have decided to make only eight of these babies, all in different colours. Star Electric Cars France (SECF), designer of coachbuilt specialty vehicles including Rolls-Royce golf carts are the face behind this incredibly expensive car. One could call it similar to Aston Martin One-77, but way better than that. Thats cause its mid-engine is powered by a twin-turbo 5.4 litre V8 engine capable of producing around 900 hp.

Its carbon fiber bodywork gives it a sleek look, while its gullwing doors make it so much coller. The carbon ceramic brakes and a leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber interior match the outside beauty and class. It would be interesting to see how long this Aston Martin occupies the top slot and which car would dethrone it.

McLaren Moves to New Eco Friendly Production Centre

18 mclaren lb11082010 600x398 McLaren Moves to New Eco Friendly Production Centre
Lord Norman Foster is the famous British architect who is known for his modern and innovative designs with a stress on functionality. His latest work is the beautiful new factory or should we say “production centre” for McLaren. The new centre is already witness to some hectic activity as the legendary racing marquee is busy assembling their killer new MP4-12C super car. It is a fitting tribute to the new facility, a new racing machine that is the best in its category.

This facility has come up adjacent to the MacLaren’s Technology Centre which was also designed and built by Foster six years ago. The Production Centre cost an estimated £45 million, or about $70 million, to build. Every aspect of the structure is clean clinical and present for a good reason. It has been appreciated by experts and design journals. One of the unique features of the centre is its roof which is designed to collect rain water and a displacement ventilation system.

The Production Centre is a low energy, eco-friendly structure. Foster has connected the new facility with the Technology Centre by a subterranean walkway for ease of communication between the design and engineering teams. The impact on a new visitor is great because of the all white interior and all black outfit of the technicians that present no hindrance to the colors of the cars.

Ferrari to Recall 458 Italia After Thermal Incidents

Ferrari 458 Italia Sportscar front Ferrari to Recall 458 Italia After Thermal Incidents
In the recent past we have seen several high profile brands having to recall their faulty products. First it was Toyota then it was Apple and now Ferrari has announced that it is recalling its latest super car, the 458 Italia, after several “thermal incidents” in the US as well as Britain, Europe and China. Simply put, the cars have been catching fire. The initial investigation has revealed that the culprit is the glue used to protect the wheel arch from the exhaust pipe. It melts under extreme heat conditions.

Ferrari had started investigating the incidents soon after the incidents were reported. And the recall will pinch one of the most enduring luxury brands on the planet that has now grown beyond cars in to areas like watches, glasses and even bikes. The initial explanation from Ferrari is that the incident happens only under extreme conditions. But then that is what it is supposed to do – perform under extreme conditions.

These are tough times for Ferrari and could get worse in the future. The company has been unable to explain why in less than a year a new model has been involved in six crashes. They have been trying to brush it aside by putting the blame on inexperienced drivers but the media is already calling it the “Ferrari Curse”.

Toyota PM Concept Car a personal transport concept

Toyota PM Concept Car

Toyota PM is highly maneuverable thanks to its castor like wheels capable of rotating through 180 degrees. The front wheels are also notable because of their hub-less design.
The futuristic Toyota PM concept from 2003 is a personal transport concept.
The PM's cockpit opens by touching one of the unusual stalk mounted headlights, this then glows green to announce the impending opening of the glass canopy.
Another interesting feature Toyota has built into the PM is its adjustable ride height and attitude. As the PM's speed increases it lowers to the ground to increase stability and improve aerodynamics.
Inside the PM information regarding vehicle performance and the location of other PM's is relayed to the single occupant by a floating virtual display.

At the crossroads of motoring, fashion and sport, the Citroën Lacoste concept cars is a “shared vision of boldness, creativity and optimism” between the French brands, according to the pre-Paris press release. At first glance, the Citroën Lacoste concept appears to be a very optimistic car indeed, as it doesn't have a roof to mitigate the inevitability of a bleak French winter. 2010 Citroen Lacoste Concept Cars The Car of The Future.
Pure, simple and laid-back, while remaining sophisticated, the Citroën Lacoste takes another step forward towards the car of the future - a vehicle aimed at putting an end to the "always more" mantra that often reigns in the automotive industry.
The new model also fuels Citroën's thinking of focusing on the essentials to create original cars that are affordable and economical, while losing none of their ambition or motoring passion, notably through premium styling.
Stylishly minimalist and elegantly laid-back, the Citroën Lacoste instantly attracts with its off-beat sports aesthetic. It features a high waistline; bulging and textured wings; minimum overhangs front and rear; and golf ball-style alloy wheels, placed in the furthest corners of the body. After a longer inspection, it is this car's "open" physique that appeals - promising a fulfilling drive, while expressing a wealth of inventiveness and elegance.
Powering the concept uses a small three-cylinder petrol engine with “plenty of performance on tap” according to the press release, as the compact (3.45 m long, 1.80 m wide, 1.52 m high and with a 2.30 m wheelbase) vehicle should be quite light, which, as per the brand, offers enough power to a vehicle of this size and weight
.
Among the other styling details there are golf ball-style alloy wheels, a square relief design resembling the sections of a tennis net on many parts of the car, integration of the lights into the bumper instead of the sheet metal and Lacoste covered stowage in its dashboard and under the two bench seats.
The concept cars will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show on 30th Sep, 2010.

RSR will be entering the ALMS with Jaguar as a technical and marketing partner. Jaguar has provided vital engineering, information and support to assist the team in the homologation and construction process. Construction of the Jaguar XKR is near completion at the RSR facility. A parallel engine development process is also underway for the new AJ-133 direct injected 5-liter normally aspirated engine. 'It will be incredibly exciting to take the JaguarRSR XKR GT back to the team at Jaguar who worked so hard to make this dream a reality,' added Gentilozzi. 'A picture may be worth a thousand words, but seeing this car in person is priceless.'
The competition car uses the standard Jaguar XKR lightweight aluminium monocoque together with additional steel reinforcements and safety structure developed by RSR. The 5.0-litre V-8 engine boasts 550 horsepower at 7000 rpm and a maximum speed of 180mph.
The JaguarRSR XKR GT made its racing debut during the Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, in September 2009. The car took its first green flag in the American Le Mans Series season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in October and is set for a full-season championship effort in 2010. Jaguar has huge experience in the 24H Le Man races, so we expect them to perform well and bring good satisfaction of the million fans.
